The goal of the San Benito County Arts Council’s Arts Express! Grant Program is to support cultural and artistic growth, foster arts accessibility and equity and promote cultural diversity in San Benito County.  Arts Express! provides support to local artists, art groups and art and cultural organizations through quick and easy mini-grants up to $1,000.  Applicants may request funding for the creation of new work; exhibitions & presenting; arts in education programs; community outreach or to support organizational capacity.

Project Guidelines

a)     Applicants must be based in San Benito County. Proposed projects must be for the benefit of San Benito County residents.

b)     Project activities shall reflect artistic practices and traditions in the visual and performing arts (i.e. music, dance, theater, fine art, traditional arts, etc.), as well as demonstrate quality, originality and creativity through artistic production. All projects shall promote cultural awareness, diversity and inclusion.

c)     Applicants must be in good standing with the San Benito County Arts Council to be eligible for funding.

Grant Application Guidelines

Applicants will be required to submit the following:

Grant application cover sheet

One-page narrative describing the proposed project (what, when, who, why)

Budget that shows 1) overall cost of the project 2) how Arts Council funds will be used and 3) source and amount of any matching funds or “in-kind” donations

One paragraph description of organization’s mission, history & goals (For arts organizations only)

Artist Bio or Resume (For individual artists only)


All grant applications due by 5 pm, Friday January 25th

2018 Arts Express Grantees included:

  1. El Teatro Campesino- $500 for Family Day in San Juan Bautista
  2. Cerra Vista Elementary- $500 to create school mural
  3. San Juan School Dual Language Immersion- $500 for after school Visual & Performing Arts Program
  4. Kollin Kosmicki- $500 to create mini-documentaries for
  5. Phillip Ray Orabuena- $500 to create holiday mural cutouts for downtown events
  6. San Benito Stage Company- $500 for Summer Theater Camp
  7. Spring Grove School- $500 for after school art program
