Jennifer Laine has served as Executive Director of the San Benito County Arts Council since 2010. She holds a B.A. in Art History from UC Santa Cruz and a M.A. in Global Studies from the University of Leipzig, Germany. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation.
Jennifer has over 10 years of experience working with cultural and international organizations, including the Bechtel International Center at Stanford University, the International Diplomacy Council (SF) and Kato-gun Board of Education. She has worked as an independent consultant to companies, nonprofits and private individuals abroad, advising on such topics as presentation skills, job coaching, academic writing and publishing, and has also served as a grant panelist for the California Arts Council, Silicon Valley Creates, Center for Cultural Innovation, Institute for International Education and the Community Foundation for San Benito County.
In 2013, Jennifer was awarded a NextGen Professional Development Grant for emerging art leaders and was also selected to participate in a 10-month GenArts Mentorship Program with Silicon Valley Creates.
Jennifer is trained as a modern dancer and performed with the Mel Wong Dance Company from 1999-2000. She has studied with Joe Goode, Stephen Petronio and Ellie Klopp (Marty Jenkins Dance Co.), amongst others. She taught modern dance at the San Benito Dance Academy from 2010-2014.
